Transformasi User Interface Website OLU Mobile Apps: Optimalisasi UI/UX Berbasis Design Thinking

  1. Background & Objective

This project focuses on transforming UHAMKA's Online Learning (OLU) web platform into a responsive mobile application. The primary goal is to resolve accessibility issues and interface constraints that users frequently experience when accessing the website via mobile devices.

  1. Problem Statement

Based on user interviews, questionnaires, and observations, several core issues were identified in the current website version:

  • The user interface is not optimized for various mobile devices.

  • Users encounter errors when using certain features.

  • The navigation is unintuitive, making it difficult for users to find what they need.

  1. Methodology (Design Process)

The project utilized the Design Thinking methodology to ensure a user-centered approach. The stages include:

  • Empathize: Gathered deep insights by distributing questionnaires and conducting in-depth interviews with 20 active OLU users.

  • Define: Analyzed the collected user data to formulate the main problems and user needs.

  • Ideate: Brainstormed creative and innovative solutions to address the defined problems.

  • Prototype: Developed initial low-fidelity wireframes and polished high-fidelity designs using Figma.

  • Testing: Conducted usability testing of the prototype with 20 participants using the Maze platform.

  1. Key Solutions & Features

The ideation process resulted in several key UI/UX improvements:

  • Homepage Redesign: Created a more visually appealing and informative homepage layout that is fully responsive across different screen sizes.

  • Search & Navigation: Added specific search categories to help users easily find course materials and assignments.

  • Real-time Notifications: Implemented real-time task notifications integrated with calendar synchronization.

  • Profile Management: Simplified the process for users to manage their profiles and change passwords.

  1. Results & Evaluation

The final prototype was evaluated using the System Usability Scale (SUS).

  • SUS Score: The application achieved a score of 66.75.

  • Conclusion: This score indicates that the application's usability is fairly good and acceptable, although there is still room for further enhancements to improve the overall user experience
